Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the project called, and how will it help me?

A. The GHHI project is called Healthy Homes, Healthy Lives. You will be able to work with trained community members and Community Health Workers who will share simple, practical ways to spot and address environmental issues such as mold, lead, radon, and other housing safety hazards.

Q. Who are Community Health Workers?

A. Community Health Workers (CHWs) are trusted, frontline public health professionals who connect communities with health/social services, acting as a bridge to improve care access and health equity, especially in underserved areas. They provide culturally relevant education, advocate for patients, help navigate complex systems, offer support, and link people to vital resources such as clinics or benefits, often sharing their cultural backgrounds or life experiences with those they serve.

Q. Will I receive materials to test for surface (paint) lead, mold, and radon in my home?

A. Yes, during our Healthy Homes, Healthy Lives workshops, CHWs will demonstrate and educate about the importance of testing. After the workshop, you will receive FREE test kits and follow-up discussions with CHWs and trained community members to assist with resource referrals and next steps.

Q. How can I sign up for the FREE workshop and kits?

A. Check back with us in mid-January 2026 to sign up for our first workshop in February 2026.
